Grief is a funny thing. It keeps you awake and som Grief is a funny thing. It keeps you awake and sometimes poems come out of it. Here’s one.
So @selmablair and @thetexastroya came to Buffalo! So @selmablair and @thetexastroya came to Buffalo! I got to watch B speak, be loved on by Scout, Giggle about feeling like a VIP with T, meet a few really nice people, laugh a lot, plan for world domination, and bask in the presence of two absolutely brilliant people I’m lucky to call Fam! (Even though the b**ch broke my hand 🤣🤣) I Love you both! ❤️❤️
A small joy: I received a final hard copy cover of A small joy: I received a final hard copy cover of TSSP ( you can preorder now!) I love this book so much 🌈❤️ @levinequerido
I spent today, trying and failing to find the word I spent today, trying and failing to find the words for the weight of this grief. I thought we had more time. I met Judy with tear stained cheeks at Sundance after watching Crip Camp, and running up to her to say thank you. To my surprise, she had been trying to get in touch with me. ME. A black disabled girl from a city people like me are not in abundance yet there I stood in the middle of a super cold Salt Lake City talking to the Judy Heumann who wanted to be there talking to me. I am immensely grateful for the friendship we would form, for her everlasting belief in me, and my work and the early morning congratulations or how are you texts. Here we were in Maryland last year when I came to work on the musical. It was a great day and trip.

The way she always made me laugh, made me proud, made me smile. I loved her then and I love her forever. Thank you for being my friend, Judy. ❤️❤️
The children really are our future! Thanks for hav The children really are our future! Thanks for having me, @aspirefirestone
BREAKING NEWS: The Secret Summer Promise is now ou BREAKING NEWS: The Secret Summer Promise is now out June 6th 2023

Thank you to some of my closest friends and family for helping me break the news!
Thank you for these flowers @jtknoxroxs ❤️❤️ I’m honored!

Posted @withregram • @jtknoxroxs It’s been a joy this month to create collages giving flowers, holding space and honoring some of my favorite Black Disabled Creatives and those putting in the work to ensure our people and culture stay visible and alive! #BlackDisabledFutures #BlackHistoryMonth @collagesfortheculture today features the amazing Keah Brown @keah_maria Author, Actress, Journalist, Screenwriter and so much more!

Keah’s work has been seen in cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Essence, and she’s written for Allure, Glamour, and Instyle!

I own a copy of her first children’s book Sam’s Super Seats! And her book the Pretty One is a must read as Keah talks about her life as a disabled black women centering her perspectives on pop culture and disability. As Black disabled women we are accustomed to watching our stories be erased and being overshadowed by those that co opt our culture and activism as a way to fulfill their own performative allyship! That’s why it continues to be paramount for us to author our own stories while we still can!

Sending you so much love today and always! Hope to collab with you!

Image descriptions: digital collage portrait of a beautiful and happy black disabled woman. She is wearing black glasses, she is smiling and soaking up all the joy her body can muster. She is wearing a cozy grey/white sweater top, and her black tresses fall gently on her shoulders. White and periwinkle blue Flowers and a yellow halo adorn her frame in the background
Seattle, I know it’s too soon to say it but I lo Seattle, I know it’s too soon to say it but I love you. I had an absolute blast at #WinterInstitute2023 sharing #TheSecretSummerPromise with booksellers, readers, and fellow authors. What a whirlwind! Thank you so much @levinequerido and Chronicle!
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about growth, an I’ve been thinking a lot lately about growth, and the people who get us to where we are. Those people also include people who are no longer apart of our lives.

it all matters. Thank you for who you were to me when we were something to each other.
